Highland Woods

It's always exciting to explore a new place. We have driven past this park on multiple occasions but finally took the time to take a look.

We were greeted near the beginning of the main trail with some gorgeous mature trees and some woolly bears.

Embry found a vine, so of course, she had to test it out.

The trail was well maintained for the most part and stood up very well to the massive amount of rain we have had in recent days. There were many fallen, moss-covered trees and plenty of fungus among us.

We did encounter a few downed trees that blocked the path, but the girls knew what to do. Over and under they went.

As with all the family hikes we enjoy, we rock hopped, log leapt, and stump jumped. Nature playtime was our final stop in our first (and certainly not last) trip to Highland Woods.
