With November temperatures below normal and snowfall above normal, I thought it would be great to take advantage and snowshoe at this month's WOLF family nature club adventure. Of course, as soon as I made that decision, the temperatures rose and the snow dwindled away. Despite that return to a more normal autumn, there was still enough snow to get a little snowshoeing in and plenty of nature to enjoy for the nearly thirty participants.
After hiking around the trail, we headed to a wooded area for some log climbing and shelter building.
Natural play offers plenty of creativity, problem-solving, and fun. This was no exception.
The kids even tried to find new ways to smash pumpkins using ropes.
There was also a stop by our decomposing pumpkin patch leftover from a holiday event with enough pumpkins left for an autumn snowman.
WOLF is taking a holiday break until the new year, where we will kick off the 2020 WOLF adventures with a tour of our high school forest, Charger Woods.
