With our next trip to the Retzer Nature Center schedule for tomorrow, we have had a whirlwind of the past two days working on assessments, projects and preparing for our kindergarten concert. With all this hard work, we needed lots of nature breaks and we certainly took them. We. . . .
completed a Birdathon session (we are up to 23 species),
scouted a large bird on the dead tree (turned out it was a turkey vulture),
picked lots of garlic mustard (approximately 50 pounds to be precise),
de-burred our classmates who got caught in the plants,
listened to our newest friend and prospective Eagle Scout share his knowledge about Eastern Bluebirds (and a few nest boxes as well),
released a few painted lady butterflies,
explored the only water feature available at our site,
and finished up and shared the awesome pond creations we gave been working on in Art class.
Last but not least, our custodian invited me up to the roof to observe some nature. Do you see what I see? More updates coming soon.
