Tyke Hike #67 - Lapham Peak
Mother Nature's rain showers stopped in time for seventeen hikers to enjoy a beautiful stretch of the Ice Age Trail.
A few of Mother Nature's friends checked in on us,
We walked through the forest, counting blazes, sharing anecdotes, and exploring the world around us. We read a wonderful picture book by Pamela Hickman titled It's Moving Day! In this story, seven different animals ended up sharing the same burrow over a number of seasons. I picked out seven young hikers and challenged them to create and share a burrow for a few years, promising the families would come back to get them. They opted to stay with their families and head back to the tower.
Upon our return to the tower, we even encountered and old Ice Age friend who was generous enough to snap pictures with the guests.
The hike wrapped up with an ascent of the Government Hill tower for some beautiful views.
