Tyke Hike #47 - Hartland

The first morning of substantial snowfall is always a great morning to stay at home and enjoy the majesty of winter in your own backyard. For my family, it also means heading out to the trail to celebrate our first snow hike of the season. Apparently, the other families opted for their own backyard. :) Either way, three hikers enjoyed a short but sweet stroll along the Hartland Segment of the Ice Age Trail.

But only after clearing the snow off of a slide.

Or every slide.

Now that Embry is more of a hiking expert, she prefers going off trail and exploring. She still does enjoy "bopping" any blaze she sees.

In our excursions off trail, we found a very photogenic tree. so fellow volunteer, Kevin, Embry, and I took turns showing off our teeth.

Embry continuing leading us off trail along serene  scenes along the Bark River

While the hike was a bit shorter in distance and duration than usual, it was an excellent start to one of my favorite times of the year to hike.
